New Dawn

How often do you get to (or have to) be awake for sunrise? What happened the last time you were up so early (or late…).

IMG_2191

We are daily early risers, except on a holiday, when we are reluctant to detach ourselves from the coziness of the cradle. Yes, we prefer calling it the ‘cradle’ because we have observed and felt the support provided by the planks of wood as we rest ourselves in deep slumber, totally unconscious and least bothered about the surrounding environment.

We generally have to be awake early to see our child off to the school. It is always refreshing to feel the silence of dawn, the freshness of the air and the beauty of the enthusiastic nature waiting to spray its fragrance to the world for a new beginning. But we quite often miss out on the tiny exquisiteness.

It was just a month before we started this blog, when we woke up just for sunrise.  The previous night we were discussing about those tiny moments in our life that we generally overlook, those moments whose presence is the essence of our life; a sunset, a clear night sky, the chirping of the birds, the cool morning breeze and there are plenty of them for all of us. But they often go without notice in the midst of the hub-bub.  We decided to rise early the next day, not for any cause but to give company to the ‘ball of fire’, as it rises to spread its light. That day we awoke just for that sunrise.

We needed no alarm to wake us up. The enthusiasm and willingness was sufficient to open our eyes. The sky was grey, with lights twinkling all over the city. We moved out to the balcony, inhaled the freshness into our soul, feeling content to wake up to another day. From our balcony one can get a clear view of the Chakrata- Mussoorie- Dhanaulti Hills. Luckily, the sky was as clear as crystal and the visibility was just perfect for the much awaited sunrise.

We sat silently, running our eyes from one end to the other trying to capture every bit of the morning delights. It was amazing!

The rays of the huge fire ball was gradually reaching the surface of the earth. Those rays; which we were quite eager to draw in our childhood paintings, after placing the sun behind the mountains; were now visible to us in reality. The snow-peaked mountain ranges- the mighty Himalayas, somewhere far behind the Shivalik Ranges cropped up in our adventurous mind as the rays crossed our eyes. The grey sky was all set for a transformation as we witnessed the rebirth of the morning sky. The sun was rising, at a snail’s pace, spreading the message of patience and calmness. (We would never have related the sunrise to patience and calmness had WordPress not come up with this Prompt!) Gradually the pale orange shade behind the mountains was turning bright.

Just then, the silence of our soul was disturbed by the sound of science. Is the sun really rising or, the Earth moving down to give way for the sunshine to reach the Earth? And we were reminded of Galileo’s theory. We could then feel the movement of Earth and the pull of gravity. It is not the Sun but our Earth in consistent movement out there in space. Why don’t we just fall off? How are we just hanging there in space?  Strange indeed!

Finally our patience gave way to a bright day ahead. We could see a tiny bit of orange light coming up the mountains, slowly and gently moving up, just like a queenly bride moving forward towards the assembly on her wedding day. The sun was finally there with us to brighten up this corner of the Earth where we stay, reminding once again of the daily routine and bringing us back to reality from those moments of blissfulness.

It was a pleasurable experience!

The Tussle between Venus and Mars

Women and Men are both marvelous and inspiring creations of the Unseen Creator. They are different: yet meant to be together. They are opposite: yet they attract each other!

Men and women

We have been together for the last ten years (by grace of the Almighty). We happened to bump into each other’s life out of the blue and decided to take the ride through the ups and downs of the most heard of ‘conjugal life’. We learnt! And learnt a lot! We are still learning!

Though a decade of this relationship is not something to be very proud of, yet, it has been the most enjoyable years in our personal lives. We have fought. We have survived! We have cried. We have lived together through thick and thin.  This is our life lived with a soul mate. We are not a perfect couple because perfection is the end! The best is always the best and we still have a long way to go. We are still wondering what would keep us moving. What are the ingredients of a happy married life?

Marriage is not an agreement. It is not an institution either. There is more to this relationship. Narrow down the definition and we narrow down the bond. Broaden the base and it will hold countless aspirations.

Marriage is an ocean of love that creates life. There is no sympathy in marriage. Sympathy is shown to the needy. It is not meant for couples. Couples go together. We need not sacrifice anything to be together. What we need is “the ability to understand and share the feelings of the other”. It is love and love alone that shelters this bond, and empathy is the driving force.

Over a span of these ten years we realised ‘the beauty’ of this relationship. It is an ‘accept and reflect’ relationship. Accept that we are different and reflect how opposites attract!

We came across this short narration in The Editors Journal that clearly describes the difference between a man and a woman.

Hope you will love it as much as we loved reading it.

Let’s say a guy named Fred is attracted to a woman named Martha. He asks her out to a movie; she accepts; they have a pretty good time. A few nights later he asks her out to dinner, and again they enjoy themselves. They continue to see each other regularly, and after a while neither one of them is seeing anybody else.

And then, one evening…

when they’re driving home, a thought occurs to Martha, and, without really thinking, she says it aloud: “Do you realize that, as of tonight, we’ve been seeing each other for exactly six months?”

And then, there is silence in the car.To Martha, it seems like a very loud silence. She thinks to herself: I wonder if it bothers him that I said that. Maybe he’s been feeling confined by our relationship; maybe he thinks I’m trying to push him into some kind of obligation that he doesn’t want, or isn’t sure of.

And Fred is thinking: Gosh. Six months.

And Martha is thinking: But, hey, I’m not so sure I want this kind of relationship either. Sometimes I wish I had a little more space, so I’d have time to think about whether I really want us to keep going the way we are, moving steadily towards, I mean, where are we going? Are we just going to keep seeing each other at this level of intimacy? Are we heading toward marriage? Toward children? Toward a lifetime together? Am I ready for that level of commitment? Do I really even know this person?

And Fred is thinking: …so that means it was…let’s see…February when we started going out, which was right after I had the car at the dealer’s, which means…lemme check the odometer…Whoa! I am way overdue for an oil change here.

And Martha is thinking: He’s upset. I can see it on his face. Maybe I’m reading this completely wrong. Maybe he wants more from our relationship, more intimacy, more commitment; maybe he has sensed – even before I sensed it – that I was feeling some reservations. Yes, I bet that’s it. That’s why he’s so reluctant to say anything about his own feelings. He’s afraid of being rejected.

And Fred is thinking: And I’m gonna have them look at the transmission again. I don’t care what those morons say, it’s still not shifting right. And they better not try to blame it on the cold weather this time. What cold weather? It’s 87 degrees out, and this thing is shifting like a garbage truck, and I paid those incompetent thieves $600.

And Martha is thinking: He’s angry. And I don’t blame him. I’d be angry, too. I feel so guilty, putting him through this, but I can’t help the way I feel. I’m just not sure.

And Fred is thinking: They’ll probably say it’s only a 90-day warranty…scumballs.

And Martha is thinking: Maybe I’m just too idealistic, waiting for a knight to come riding up on his white horse, when I’m sitting right next to a perfectly good person, a person I enjoy being with, a person I truly do care about, a person who seems to truly care about me. A person who is in pain because of my self-centered, schoolgirl romantic fantasy.

And Fred is thinking: Warranty? They want a warranty? I’ll give them a warranty. I’ll take their warranty and stick it right up their…

“Fred,” Martha says aloud.

What?” says Fred, startled.

“Please don’t torture yourself like this,” she says, her eyes beginning to brim with tears. “Maybe I should never have…oh dear, I feel so…”(She breaks down, sobbing.)

“What?” says Fred.

“I’m such a fool,” Martha sobs. “I mean, I know there’s no knight. I really know that. It’s silly. There’s no knight, and there’s no horse.”

“There’s no horse?” says Fred.

“You think I’m a fool, don’t you?” Martha says.

“No!” says Fred, glad to finally know the correct answer.

“It’s just that…it’s that I…I need some time,” Martha says.

(There is a 15-second pause while Fred, thinking as fast as he can, tries to come up with a safe response. Finally he comes up with one that he thinks might work.)

“Yes,” he says. (Martha, deeply moved, touches his hand.)

“Oh, Fred, do you really feel that way?” she says.

“What way?” says Fred.

“That way about time,” says Martha.

“Oh,” says Fred. “Yes.” (Martha turns to face him and gazes deeply into his eyes, causing him to become very nervous about what she might say next, especially if it involves a horse. At last she speaks.)

“Thank you, Fred,” she says.

“Thank you,” says Fred.

Then he takes her home, and she lies on her bed, a conflicted, tortured soul, and weeps until dawn, whereas when Fred gets back to his place, he opens a bag of Doritos, turns on the TV, and immediately becomes deeply involved in a rerun of a college basketball game between two South Dakota junior colleges that he has never heard of. A tiny voice in the far recesses of his mind tells him that something major was going on back there in the car, but he is pretty sure there is no way he would ever understand what, and so he figures it’s better if he doesn’t think about it.

The next day Martha will call her closest friend, or perhaps two of them, and they will talk about this situation for six straight hours. In painstaking detail, they will analyze everything she said and everything he said, going over it time and time again, exploring every word, expression, and gesture for nuances of meaning, considering every possible ramification.

They will continue to discuss this subject, off and on, for weeks, maybe months, never reaching any definite conclusions, but never getting bored with it either.

Meanwhile, Fred, while playing racquetball one day with a mutual friend of his and Martha’s, will pause just before serving, frown, and say: “Norm, did Martha ever own a horse?”

The above narrative inspired us to pop up with the story of our own life. We were lost in the conversation. This is exactly what we encounter in regular intervals in our own life. How about you?

Now the question is: We all agree to this fact, don’t we? Then why do we not agree to go that extra mile to accept this difference in our real life? Is it so difficult to crack this puzzle? Is it so difficult to embrace this difference? What do you think?

“One Word Photo Challenge: Cream”

The One Word Challenge: This word is Cream. The Challenge is to include image/images that best fit the theme. Here are our images.

Wonder Cream Pics
Wonder Cream Pics

Cream is a thin layer that covers the milk when allowed to stand untouched. Or Cream is a smooth and soft paste.

We tried to relate it with few wonders of the world we live in.

1. The Innocence of a Child: That innocent look wonders what this world is all about and tells us “life is so simple, relax”.

2. The Softness of Snow: The soft blanket cools the heat of the planet and maintains a climate suitable for complex life on Earth.

3. The Beauty of the Swan: The beauty endowed with elegance and grace, signifying calmness and purity of the soul.

4. The Warmth of Love: The Warmth that releases all pain and grief. Love is the shield that protects us from all evil.

What do you feel? Are they the CREAM of this world?

ROBWOP – The WordPress Robot!

Robwop

WordPress says: Congrats — you’ve been handed a robot whose sole job is to relieve you of one chore, job, or responsibility you particularly hate. What is it?

Since we started off on a journey into this new world called WordPress, everything seemed to be sunny and bright, except one. The only job we hate is just scrolling down the posts in haste when we have other chores awaiting us. We hate missing out those Daily Prompts, Daily challenges, the reflections, and the hidden words of different souls, those unbelievable journeys, the optimism, the pessimism, the positive, the negative and million other opinions, enthusiastically waiting to be embraced by the million viewers.

It was only yesterday we disclosed about our relationship with WordPress, (You Know You Make Me Wanna) and today we are here again to unfurl the hidden, ‘speechless passionate feelings’ for this blooming love. Yes, WordPress is the new love in our life.

Our journey with WordPress has been an incredible journey so far. But we have also felt the pain of bouncing over many of those wonderful posts, hoping to catch them up later. Oh! We have seen them look back at us with moist eyes as they are scrolled down the page. We have felt the pain of missing out ‘the feel’ of the hidden messages behind every photograph shared. We have felt the pain of disconnecting with WordPress every time we are reminded of our daily chores and responsibilities.

WordPress is our addiction. Yes, it is a sweet poison that kills time, the wine that leaves us unconscious and unaware of all the happenings in our surrounding environment. It keeps us engrossed in the garden of words that spreads the fragrance of knowledge, feelings and emotions.

We were in great need of an assistant that could help us in reading those entire intellectual, strange, funny, informative posts; prose and poetry; and someone who could take us to the lost world of those awesome photographs, wherever we are.

What a wonder! WordPress heard our prayer and showered on us this wonderful gift without delay. It is a Robot!

Now that we possess a Robot, we will never fail to see and read anything that pass by. Wherever we go ROBWOP (yes, this is the name of our Robot) would accompany us. We can now keep track of those million ‘speechless expressions’ from every nook and corner of the globe waiting to be heard, read, explored and felt. We can now continue with a conversation with any blogger anywhere, anytime, anyplace uninterrupted and ROBWOP would just type them down in less than a nanosecond!

And yes, our ROBWOP has a 10G internet facility for uninterrupted connectivity! Phew! What a relief!

Thank You WordPress for this wonderful gift!

Daily Prompt- You, Robot

You Know You Make Me Wanna

Dedicated to WordPress

To start it off, I know you know me

It was only last month
That I had a dream about us.

That’s why I am here, I’m writing this song.
To tell the truth you know I have been waiting all along;
Someway let me know you want me WordPress.

Everytime you see me what do you see?
I feel like I’m a blogger and you’re the logger.
Oh WordPress, you’re the only thing that I really need.

You make me wanna write in the middle of the night.
You make me wanna write till the morning light.
You make me wanna think, you make me wanna ink.
You make me wanna surrender my link.

I know this is a feeling that I just can’t fight.
You’re the first and last thing on my mind.
You make me wanna think, you make me wanna ink.
You make me wanna surrender my link.

Well I know that these feelings won’t end
They’ll just get stronger if I see you again.
WordPress I’m tired of being friends.
I wanna know if you feel the same
And could you tell me do you feel my pain?
Don’t leave me in doubt.

The Daily Post Challenge: Opening Lines

What’s the first line of the last song you listened to (on the radio, on your music player, or anywhere else)? Use it as the first sentence of your post.

(“You know you make me wanna” is a song by BLUE. The first line of the song goes: “You know you make me wanna”. The skeleton (song) is the same; only some bones (words) are replaced). Enjoy WordPress! You deserve it! 😉

The Frayed Mountain

A less traveled road on way to Munsyari, India.
A less traveled road on way to Munsyari, India.

A look back at the picture of this mountain road, a less traveled road on way to Munsyari, India, left us totally flabbergasted. We are still breathing!  It was a breathless journey for us, a memorable drive through the frayed edges of the mountain. Rains had frayed the mighty Himalayan mountain, leaving no visible traces of the road. A wrong move of the feet, hand or eye would have landed us down into the river.

From Pangaea to Laurasia then Eurasia and Back!

A photo that tells us what ‘FRAY’ means. We could not find any better example to explain this word!

Our planet Earth
Our planet Earth in motion since ages

The animation above is an example to show what the word ‘FRAY’ means to us. We have presented a small description of how our Earth faced her wear and tear, and which even now is on the move, and how it is expected to unravel. If the story interests you, you can visit the links provided along with.

Pangaea or Pangea was a supercontinent that existed during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras. It formed approximately 300 million years ago and then began to break apart after about 100 million years. Pangaea was the first reconstructed supercontinent and its global ocean was accordingly named Panthalassa.

Pangaea
The blue Ocean surrounding Pangaea is Panthalassa

Panthalassa, also known as the Panthalassic Ocean, was the vast global ocean that surrounded the supercontinent Pangaea, during the late Paleozoic and the early Mesozoic eras. It included the Pacific Ocean to the west and north and the Tethys to the southeast. It became the Pacific Ocean, following the closing of the Tethys basin and the breakup of Pangaea, which created the Atlantic, Arctic, and Indian Ocean basins. The Panthalassic is often called the Paleo-Pacific (“old Pacific”) because the Pacific Ocean developed from it in the Mesozoic to the Present.

There were three major phases in the break-up of Pangaea. The first phase began in the Early-Middle Jurassic (about 175 Ma), when Pangaea began to rift from the Tethys Ocean in the east to the Pacific in the west, ultimately giving rise to the supercontinents Laurasia and Gondwana. The rifting that took place between North America and Africa produced multiple failed rifts. One rift resulted in a new ocean, the North Atlantic Ocean.

The second major phase in the break-up of Pangaea began in the Early Cretaceous (150–140 Ma), when the minor supercontinent of Gondwana separated into multiple continents (Africa, South America, India, Antarctica, and Australia). About 200 Ma, the continent of Cimmeria, as mentioned above (see “Formation of Pangaea”), collided with Eurasia. However, a subduction zone was forming, as soon as Cimmeria collided.

The third major and final phase of the break-up of Pangaea occurred in the early Cenozoic (Paleocene to Oligocene). Laurasia split when North America/Greenland (also called Laurentia) broke free from Eurasia, opening the Norwegian Sea about 60–55 Ma. The Atlantic and Indian Oceans continued to expand, closing the Tethys Ocean.

Eurasia is the combined continental landmass of Europe and Asia, with the term being a portmanteau of its two constituents. Located primarily in the Northern and Eastern Hemispheres, it is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the west, the Pacific Ocean to the east, the Arctic Ocean on the north, and by Africa, the Mediterranean Sea, the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean to the south. The division between Europe and Asia as two different continents is a historical and cultural construct, with no clear physical separation between them; thus, in some parts of the world, Eurasia is recognized as the largest of five or six continents.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasia

Pangaea Ultima (also called Pangaea ProximaNeopangaea, and Pangaea II) is a possible future supercontinent configuration. Consistent with the supercontinent cycle, Pangaea Ultima could occur within the next 250 million years. This potential configuration, hypothesized by Christopher Scotese, earned its name from its similarity to the previous Pangaea supercontinent. The concept was based on examination of past cycles of formation and breakup of supercontinents, not on current understanding of the mechanisms of tectonic change, which are too imprecise to project that far into the future. “It’s all pretty much fantasy to start with”, Scotese has said. “But it’s a fun exercise to think about what might happen. And you can only do it if you have a really clear idea of why things happen in the first place.”

Supercontinents describe the merger of all, or nearly all, of the Earth’s landmass into a single contiguous continent. In the Pangaea Ultima scenario, subduction at the western Atlantic, east of the Americas, leads to the subduction of the Atlantic mid-ocean ridge followed by subduction destroying the Atlantic and Indian basin, causing the Atlantic and Indian Oceans to close, bringing the Americas back together with Africa and Europe. As with most supercontinents, the interior of Pangaea Proxima would probably become a semi-arid desert prone to extreme temperatures.

NO STRESS, JUST RELAX!

work

If money were out of the equation, would you still work? If yes, why, and how much? If not, what would you do with your free time?

Basic Equation of Money and Work is:

Idea +Work = Money (Assuming Idea is positive)

We have an idea and we put our efforts in the form of Work, we earn Money.

Or,

Work= Money-Idea

That is to say, even if we do not have any idea and money exists, we still have to work! (Daily bread earners)

Further,

Idea= Money-Work

If money exists, we can even earn money without working; only if we have some idea in mind! (Intellectuals or cunning)

Therefore, if money exists, even if we do not work, it will make no difference; an Idea is a must.

Now, taking Money out of the equation or Money=Zero

Therefore,

Idea+Work=Zero

That is we have some idea and we are working but we are getting Zero output

Or,

Work= – Idea

This means, when Money is not in the equation and we keep working, we will end up with negative ideas. We can name these negative ideas as STRESS that results in unethical practices or unfair means or something which will cause destruction. So, better not to work without money! Avoid destruction! Just relax! Enjoy the free time!

Then we can use our free time to give a new dimension to the incomplete equation. We can use relaxation techniques to transfer the negative ideas into positive ones and gradually start working again with renewed vigour  to end up in new discoveries and inventions, and who knows, maybe come up with an even stronger element than Money!

Maybe,

Idea +Work=Freedom! (Money out of the equation)

(Freedom from Greed, Dishonesty, Insincerity, Corruption, All Unethical and Unfair Practices)

Given the new dimension to the equation, even if we do not work, our ideas (as assumend earlier to be positive) will help us exercise our freedom in the right direction. And even if we do not have any Idea, our work will give us the freedom of choice and a happy and content life!

Therefore, if Money is out of the equation, just relax.

The Tunnel from A to O

journey through the tunnel

We’ve been given the ability to build a magical tunnel that will quickly and secretly connect our home with the location of our choice — anywhere on Earth. Where’s the other end of our tunnel?

When we came across this Daily Prompt, the first thing that crossed our mind was WOW! Ability to build a magical tunnel that will quickly and secretly connect our home with the location of our choice-anywhere on Earth!

But as the strings of our mind started loosening up, we were caught in a dilemma. We’ve the ability to build a tunnel.  Well, tunnels are dark inside. Isn’t it? No fresh air, no natural light.

We would rather prefer some other way where there is light during the journey to one of our favourite places anywhere on Earth! The journey also has to be a beautiful one. We do have the desire to travel around the world, breathing in all the beauty around. How would the journey to our favourite destination through a tunnel be like? A journey in the dark, full of struggle! Will we be able to do justice to us?

We decided to select a tunnel with a narrow opening, then use our magical power to build it bigger and bigger so that we can quickly and secretly at the blink of an eye connect it to light at the other end!

And we finally discovered this narrow opening!

Have you noticed the small triangle in the letter ‘A’ in the word HATE? Yes this triangle is our starting point. Our Earth- our home, is surrounded by hate all around. There is darkness in this hatred, because we lose our senses when we hate someone. We forget our existence as a superior animal- a human being.

Luckily there are small magic like WordPress Daily Prompt that knocks the closed door of our mind and encourage us to build bridges to connect one end of the world with the other.

So our work begins. We dig and dig quickly, silently and secretly using our magical power until we reach the other end of the tunnel of HATE. And at the blink of an eye we finally discover the new horizon.  We come out from the small triangle in ‘A’ to a broad opening in letter ‘O’, a new world, where we breathe fresh and free! Notice the letter ‘O’ in LOVE? Yes, we’re in a new place, a new location, LOVE. We are now satisfied that we’ve used our magical power to get to something better, where there is light all around.

We made it! What do you think? 🙂

What went wrong?

Did something go wrong?

Confused

How about starting off with a day like this…

  • Use face wash or shaving cream to brush teeth? This tastes different! Yuk!
  • Throw the boiled egg in the dustbin and keep the shell in hand to eat! Thank God we got back our senses before eating it.
  • Dip the banana in tea and eat it (assuming it is a cookie). Yummy banana.
  • Fill a glass of water to drink then throw the water in the sink only to realise later we had to drink it. Doesn’t matter, will fill it again. Will the water go to the sink again? Maybe!
  • Apply the accelerator of the car when the break should have been applied and keep wondering what went wrong!
  • Call all the family members for lunch to the dining table then realise rice is yet to be cooked. (Rice is the main item in lunch in that part of India where we come from.) How about keep all of them wait for another long time again as the gas stove was not switched on! Embarrassing situation?
  • Throw the date in the trash and eat the seed. Then wonder why it did not taste sweet?
  • Unwrap the bath soap and throw the soap in the dustbin instead of the wrapper!
  • Congratulate someone when actually they have to be wished good luck or vice versa. Just leave them with a smile, then think later what did we say?
  • Reach school then realise, Oh! Where is the school bag?
  • Search for the wrist watch when actually all the time it was in the hand. Or look for the specs when actually all the time the head was exploring the beauty of this world.
  • You are asked to bring a spoon from the kitchen and you hand over a knife. Were you dreaming about that horror movie?

There are many more such instances when we did something unintentionally funny. We are not able to recall any more right now. But as WordPress has given this opportunity to capture these silly activities, this list will keep updating. So keep revisiting for more! 😉 😉

Do you think we are crazy? What went wrong?
