Be the change

Change
A view of a city clicked on a clear winter day.

The Daily Post: Be the change
What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in this world?

Change is something inevitable. And those who adapt to the changes survive. This has been the rule of this world since ages. However, change cannot and should not be imposed on anyone. Different situations and circumstances demand different rules.

Talking of this world and its people, a change is brought about by someone who thinks different. And those who think different will either be followed or criticised. Had we the power to change this world, we probably would not have been blogging here. We do not blog to bring about any change.

Yes, we have followers here in WordPress. They are our followers by their choice. They are those who probably like and enjoy our posts or get lost in the photographs we share. We love our followers because that gives us a sense of satisfaction, that we exist. This is a platform where we can be what we are- eccentric, stupid, crazy!

We are just like anyone else living in this world, with innumerable imperfections.  We make mistakes and learn from our mistakes. We are here to share our life; the good and even the bad, but trying as we do, to add a touch of positive vibe to make life look as simple as possible. We are one among those, struggling to create a life comfortable and suitable to live. We are here to make us feel good. We are glad to be part of the blogging community, learning everyday as we share our posts.

We are not here to change this world through our blog.  We are here to change us and be the change.

All Grown Up

All grown up

Does it really sound great and feels good to know we are grown up? Let us find out.

When we were kids, there were several instances when we tried to imitate our elders. We fancied the life our parents, uncle and aunts used to live. We craved for the freedom to do anything and everything.

Today, as adults, we admire the life of kids. We find happiness in all the small pleasures they take. We dream of living life as a kid again. Why!!!

Because….

Kids do not know about stress. They are unaware of this complicated world. They do not know about rich or poor. They do not distinguish people on the basis of color, language, caste, creed or religion. They do not know about ego, greed, money, jealousy, hatred or competition. They understand only one language and that is the language of love.

They know how to forget and forgive. They know how to embrace someone who makes them cry. They know that a smile can make others happy. They know how to get what they want without harming others. They never try to impress but know how to express. They do not know fear. They are not bothered about others because they know how to stay busy. They know their worth. They never depend on others to be happy.

Kids explore. They experiment. They learn. They laugh. They live their life!

We feel we are all grown up. We realized this when we were gifted with a son who taught us that life is very simple. Since then, we are living life as a kid again because, we now know that no one is going to get out alive anyway.

The Beauty of Black and White

The first thought that crossed our mind when we read about the topic for this week’s Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge:Open Topic was that, we can select any topic of our choice with no restriction. But then, this is just one way of looking at this topic. The word “Open” carries other profound meanings as well.

This is indeed a challenge!

Photo shops can easily create a black and white picture.  What we preferred to bring to our viewers was something original. We finally collected some of our photographs that were in Black and White and that could be related to the word ‘Open’.

The photographs we have shared were not edited and are in their original form.

Enjoy the real and original beauty of Black and White as we make an effort to relate it to the Open Topic.

1. The Passage

( open: adjective- allowing access, passage, or a view through an empty space; not closed or blocked)

Clouds give a passage to the final rays of the Sun to reach the Earth before dusk.

This photograph was taken in Bhimtal, Uttarakhand, India. An evening in Bhimtal. Very light shades of the blue and orange is also visible.

 2. Spread the Light

(open: verb- unfold or be unfolded; spread out)

Sunrays unfolds and spreads out as the Earth starts a new day.

This photograph was clicked in a cloudy morning, from Almora  Uttarakhand, India. We could not resist sharing this picture. Observe how a red ball of fire can open itself turning white and spreading light. Cannot think of a better way to represent ‘Open’.

Beautiful sunset behind the hills-Almora

3. The Truth

(open: adjective- exposed to the air or to view; not covered)
We are open minded when we have the courage to face the truth or accept the truth. So, what is the truth about life?

The truth is revealed by Nature- “there is light after every darkness.”

This photograph was taken in Munsiyari. The sun is seen rising behind the Panchachulli peaks. It was an awesome view as we observed the Himalayan peaks turn black as the Earth was giving way to sunshine.

4. Outdoor

(open: noun- outdoors or in the countryside.)

This is a view of a beautiful evening of Connaught Place, New Delhi, India. Many of the buildings in this area are white and the evening makes it a perfect view of black and white. The Sun is visible as a white ball.

5. The Open Challenge

(open: noun- a championship or competition with no restrictions on who may compete)

Black mountains and White patches of clouds in the sky with the white ball makes a perfect picture for The Open Black and White Challenge !

Hope you had a wonderful journey as you traveled through the immense beauty of Nature and could listen to what Nature had to Open up with.  :-)

The Countdown: Life with WordPress

“Through this post we also take the opportunity to thank our readers and viewers for their incredible support.”

The Countdown

This post is all about our journey here in WordPress since July 2014 till December this day. The first day (July 14) with WordPress was quite monotonous as we had no idea what to do. But as we moved ahead in this journey, we managed to gather readers and viewers from every nook and corner of this world. And as we approach this New Year, we have high hopes of expanding our contribution to reach as many readers and viewers as possible trying to share our ‘share of life’.

So, let the Countdown to a new beginning start !

10. July 14: THE BABY STEP

The Other Side of the Story:  Our first post. This post tried to compare the rich and poor from a different perspective.

Aww…. 😦

This looks so incomplete; without any picture or tags. No likes or comments either. But that did not de-motivate us. Probably because approval of others was not what we were seeking here.

9. July 16: THE FIRST VISITOR

Finally we were spotted by someone. Thank you Samoan Sword, for sparing the time to read our post. As we are academicians, this was what we thought would be beneficial to the society we are part of. Yes, Value Based Education System, the need of the hour! This post was all about the young learners who must be guided to shape their own mind so that they understand the importance of positive values and apply these values in their journey of life.

But how irresponsible of us! We did not even bother to reply back to this first visitor. We must have been busy customizing our Blog to make it attractive in the simplest way possible, trying to make it clearly visible and legible.

8. July 18: WHERE THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY

Will Power Matters ! Our third post that provided us the limelight.

This post too carries no tags or pictures. It looks so dull ! However, this time we somehow learnt while experimenting with WordPress that we could share our posts in Facebook. And here we are with 45 likes! But none to like in WordPress still. But two of the bloggers did comment on this post. Thanks to Tammi Kale and susieshy45 for visiting our blog.

This was sufficient for us to keep us moving in this new world among strangers. We were enjoying this new experience playing with our own thoughts and feelings and sharing it with the world without the least expectation of being selected to publish our work.

Wonderful! Isn’t this an achievement in itself? Definitely yes! This, kind of boosted our enthusiasm and energy to devote more of our time in expressing how we feel about everything around us, trying to improve as we stepped ahead.

Will Power indeed matters !!

7. July 27: THE TURNING POINT

Something suddenly struck our mind. Being crazy travellers, we had that bulk of photographs with us that could not be utilised so far. And here was the opportunity to portray and share our experiences through our photographs. And there was this turning point! The Call of the Hills– Yes, our next post.

We decided to bring our writing skill and photography together in one platform and make our existence visible and possibly work towards the purpose of our life to spread the message of unity and peace.

And we came up with our first ever ‘wonder post’. We call it a ‘wonder post’ because it looks so lively. Even now as we opened it to include the link, it was so exciting to read our own experiences and bring back those memories back to life! It is an awesome feeling of getting lost in the sweet memories of the past treasures. And what is more incredible is that we could share it with the world! This is amazing! We really did it!

The breathless journey!
The breathless journey!

4 bloggers liked it and 17 likes from our Facebook friends. We believed we were doing great, at least we made ourselves feel so; no harm, isn’t it? And most important we found that magic wand!

6. July 28: THE PUSH AHEAD

Age is just a number: Our first ever entry to the Daily Post! It was short but was indeed a challenge. And it was like we discovered that silver lining in the cloud.

And our journey continues…

We continued posting at a stretch day and night. WordPress was our new love.

And here was the twist! The Daily Post and Weekly Challenges got us in its grip and we started relating our life experiences to the themes these challenges provided. It was a blessing in disguise to come up before the world as an example (good or bad). We did not have any trouble choosing what to post because there were already plenty before us, as if they were prepared to assist us in our endeavor.

Here are some of our posts that would definitely keep your eyes locked to the screen. We have numbered them in ascending order of likes by other bloggers.

5. The Tussle between Venus and Mars

Men and women

Women and Men are both marvelous and inspiring creations of the Unseen Creator. They are different, yet meant to be together. They are opposite, yet they attract each other!

1. Humanity- The Connection  The most loved post of our blog!

The Connection

We have created some of the wonderful memories of our life with WordPress- our readers and viewers! What more could we preserve from our life in 2014 than these memories and the pleasurable and marvelous conversations with strangers from all over the world. An achievement indeed ! 🙂

Way of Life !

“Do not worry about going fast; you are not in a race. Do not think of going far; you cannot defeat death. Just walk. Enjoy the journey.”     —- Ahmad & Ahmad

This post is part of two challenges: Cee’s which Way Photo Challenge: 2014 #23 and Nurthuring Thursday

In response to the Challenges, we share below few of our photographs that actually describes the Way Of Life!

Here they are:

1. Beautiful

IMG_0499
Clicked at Birla Institute of Applied Sciences, Bhimtal, Uttarakhand, India.

Our life is sometimes beautiful, straight, smooth, supportive (represented by the green tress, if you could not guess that) and with available directions to show us the way to our destination.

 2. Indecisive

IMG_1289
Clicked at Terrace Garden, Chandigarh, India.

In many instances life puts us in a situation where we are not sure which way to go; whom to follow, whom not to follow. The choice is ultimately ours!

 3. Twists and turns

IMG_2811
Clicked at India- Nepal Border (Dharchula in India and Darchula in Nepal)

Sometimes our life changes its direction as we climb up the path of growth. This is seen through the changes we undergo, in our thoughts, behaviour and way of living as we cross childhood, adulthood and old age.

 4. Challenge

IMG_2823
On way to Munsiyari, Uttarakhand, India.

Our life offers us many hurdles. These hurdles may be in the form of depression, rejection, fear or failure. It is up to us if we wish to go back, wait or go ahead and face the challenges.

 5. Struggle

IMG_3123
Inside Bijrani, Jim Corbett National Park, Ramnagar, India.

Life is not always smooth. (represented by the gravels on the road). Though we know the way, it demands hard work and patience as we move ahead.

 6. Unsolved Mystery

IMG_2663
On way to Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, India.

Finally, life is an unsolved mystery. However smooth or straight the way is, or far it may stretch, after a point it goes out of view. To relate, we are heading towards infinity, towards the unknown!

How would you describe your way of life?

The Winning Streak !!

Life choice

When we started blogging in WordPress, it was a new experience for us. The excitement pushed us to meet this site daily and we were sort of attached to this new experience that supported us to ‘play’ with our daily thoughts and expressions. We state here “play” because we enjoyed every moment we spent scribbling our thoughts! Sooner or later, for whatever reason, we lost the magic wand.

We are back again and we are here with renewed zest and vigor. We are back with a  winning streak !! We are back with the magic wand to live our life more fruitfully. Here is what we have to offer to our readers.

We come across many quotations on anything and everything we want to learn. Quotations are mere experiences of people great and small and what ‘they have learnt’ from what ‘they have observed’ in the situation and environment ‘they have lived’. We tend to accept those that better suits our thoughts.

It is  never too late  to learn. We can learn everyday and every moment if we want to. We learn from others and we learn from our own experiences.

Here are few quotations we tried to figure out from our own experiences.

“Never blame anyone for the life you are living. The life you are living is your choice. Believe in your choice.”

“Give me the opportunity to love and care for people i have never met. Those i love and care for, are already safe in my heart.”

“Don’t go by words. They are mere ways of expression. Follow what you feel because your feelings are all that you own and they speak the truth.”

“Never say: I’m busy. Instead say: I’m never busy but i’m never idle either.”

“The heart never breaks. It opens the door to new beginnings. Good or bad, learn to treasure the past, accept the present and continue living. This is how you welcome your bright future.”

“Dare to take risks, dream and expect. It is better than doing nothing.”

“I love to think because it gives me the opportunity to go on a date with ME.”

“We all can be a genius. All that we need is to think different.”

“I’m not unstable. Life provides me the ups and downs. I simply adjust myself.”

“That education is not worth it that cannot teach us how to live when we are emotionally dead.”

“Enjoy the time you waste. This way you will not regret wasting your time. Life is all about living and not winning.”

“The best Research is that which is done when we do not know what to do.”

“Be flexible, you will bend. Be rigid, you will break.”

“Be thankful to people you don’t like. What we don’t like in others is what we don’t want for us. Think simple, think wise.”

The ECCENTRIC DUO

Food for thought: We all have that one eccentric relative who always says and does the strangest things. In your family, who’s that person, and what is it that earned him/her that reputation?

It’s US! 🙂

DSC_4529

We’ve been wondering how to display our eccentric side out here in WordPress. And here we are expressing the eccentric side of us once again. As usual, thanks to WordPress Daily Prompt  for this opportunity.

Yes, in our family and also among our friends, we believe ‘we’ are the one eccentric relative or friend who always says and does the strangest things. Now, what was it that earned us this reputation will be unveiled as you let your eyes capture every word and allow your mind to crack the code. If you are one among those who have read our past posts with enthusiasm and with an open mind, you’ve almost got us, and surprisingly, you become another eccentric person! Boggled? Never mind.

It has been quite sometime since we came up with a post to crack the truth. We were away for a while. It was like loving someone or something dearly when they are new and then just take it for granted (as is always thought about). When we first started blogging, WordPress was our first love. It still is, (not taken for granted) because this is the place where we can be stupid, behave crazy, be who we are and just let go the things that bother us. Yes, we get the opportunity to express our eccentric side. Interestingly, we are eccentric not only among our family and friends but among millions of other users of this site.

Let us state it this way. How many of you thought ‘yourself’ as that one eccentric person you know, and write about for this post? We did! Isn’t this a reason for eccentricity? The truth is we hardly get the time to think what others are thinking because we are lost in our own weird thoughts, trying to crack the code of truth; truth about life, truth about truth itself!

What we believe as humans is: we have a tendency to rule over others. And the moment we see others trying to follow a new track, we start thinking others are behaving strangely. This is because we do not let our thoughts go beyond that limit we have set for ourselves. We want others to see what we see, hear what we hear and do what we do. But, if the mind is set free, it can cross many horizons we have probably never imagined. The mind is a mystery.

Now, ‘we’ are among those who believe in living our dreams and living the life we dream instead of dreaming of living ‘our life’.

We can sail through this draft, pointing out the many reasons why our family and friends think we are eccentric. But do we really need to do that? We feel the one reason we pointed out above is sufficient for your understanding. And to know more about our strange thoughts and ideas, keep track of our posts! 😉

Are you SMART ?

rusmart

“The Grass is always Green on the other side.” It is human tendency to make comparisons and follow others. Knowingly or unknowingly this comparison lands us in a situation where we develop a sense of inferiority complex and that ultimately instigates jealousy in us. And if we introspect, this is actually the reason behind the negative energy within us. If we spend enough time analyzing our own thoughts and actions, how much time will be left with us to find fault with others?

To the layman, being smart may first relate to someone ‘well dressed’ and second to ‘social interaction’. Both are necessary but not sufficient for a fruitful life. Assume any situation where you come across someone who is well dressed but have a narrow bent of mind; someone who seems to steal the show but is very aggressive when it comes to personal relations.

It is not only important to ‘look good’, but what is more important is to ‘feel good’. While looking good gives us the desired confidence; feeling good gives us the desire to live our life with a purpose.

The Oxford English dictionary defines smartness as: to be good at learning, understanding and thinking in a logical way.

Let us consider these three aspects:

Learning: This refers to gaining knowledge and skill. We are not referring here to professional knowledge and skill development. Everyone is literate enough to learn to earn for himself. Even if someone is not highly educated does not mean he is not capable to live his life. And even if someone is highly educated does not mean he knows best how to live his life. The purpose of education is not to assist us to learn how to earn, rather it is to assist us to learn how to live.

We can learn in two different ways: First, from books and second from our own experience.

Books are literary works of people and their thoughts. Everyone is free to express thoughts and feelings in black and white. The conclusion we draw, however depends upon how we interpret things. There is a familiar saying: practice makes a man perfect. Learning from own experience therefore is the best way of learning. A wise decision would be to learn from others’ experience. This saves time, money and effort. For example, if you see a man fall into a pit you will definitely not follow him. But, experiences others face are based on the situation and environment they have lived in. So, how about learning from our own experience? Learning here means to lift us up when we fall, all set to face the hard realities all over again. So, when life is hard on you, never say:why me? Just say: try me! 🙂

What follows learning? It is to understand what we have learnt.

Understanding: This refers to knowing and realizing how and why things happen. This plays a crucial part because different people perceive the same situation differently. Understanding a situation assists us in our future endeavours and prevent us from committing the same mistakes a second time. It will help us to avoid an unfavourable situation or atleast direct us to act differently. But the question that arises here is: How to work on our potential to understand? This ability is acquired from our perception. Perception speaks about thinking in a particular way. A person will understand the things the way he allows his mind to work, in other words the way he thinks.

Thinking: This is the last and the most important of the three aspects of smartness. There is a very common saying that “A man becomes what he thinks”. Therefore thinking act as an institution for learning and understanding. Everything is in the mind and how we shape our mind. If we think logical we will act logical. Therefore to become smart and intelligent it is important to think logical, in other words think reasonable and sensible. This aspect reminds us of a large number of issues facing different nations in general and to human behaviour and human relations in particular. We would leave this matter for the reader to analyse and decide if he/she is smart!

The root of smartness therefore is in our mind. Our life is a learning process. It is fine to feel the way we want to feel. There is no harm in doing something we like to do. And it is absolutely alright to doubt what we have been taught to believe. What matters is we must not interfere in the lives of others. No one hurts us, no one is responsible for the life we are living. Everyone is busy assembling parts of their scattered life. Therefore, care for yourself. God is kind enough to take care of the rest. Live and let live!! 🙂

We just have to make-up our mind.

No Time! Are you sure?

This is the clock we  purchased recently. Since then, we have enough time to do anything and everything. Time is a matter of our choice.

“If you do not have the time to do something, think again! Remove the damn battery from the clock. This is how clocks work. Isn’t it? So, Relax, life is too short to worry about time”. 🙂

Whatever
