At the onset, we would like to thank Daily Post for giving us this opportunity to learn something. We were never aware of the Seven Sins till we came across this Daily Post asking us to blog on the Eighth Sin. For all those who are also not aware of them, first we thought of jotting down the Seven Sins.
Lust is an intense desire of money, food, fame, power or sex.
Gluttony is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste.
Greed is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of excess. It is applied to a very excessive or rapacious desire and pursuit of material possessions.
Sloth is sometimes defined as physical laziness. However spiritual laziness is emphasized.
It has also been defined as a failure to do things that one should do. By this definition, evil exists when good men fail to act.
Wrath may be described as inordinate and uncontrolled feelings of hatred and anger. Feelings of anger can manifest in different ways, including impatience, revenge, and self-destructive behaviour, such as drug abuse or suicide.
Envy is characterized by an insatiable desire. Envy is similar to jealousy in that they both feel discontent towards someone’s traits, status, abilities, or rewards.
Pride is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins, and the source of the others. It is identified as believing that one is essentially better than others, failing to acknowledge the accomplishments of others, and excessive admiration of the personal self (especially holding self out of proper position toward God).
Now the Eighth Sin….
From our experience we would like to list, or more so tag it as ‘the most terrifying sin’….
Negativity
For all those, who lack enthusiasm, is unconstructive, unhelpful, pessimist, or displays displeasure is full of negativity. Negativity is the root cause of all the Seven Sins. Are you scratching your head?
Let us put it like this:
If we are enthusiastic, we will avoid being a sloth. If we are helpful, we will avoid lust, gluttony or greed. Remember, when we are helpful, our left hand should not know what our right hand is doing. So to say, we should never expect anything in return. Be a giver rather than a taker. Again, if we are optimistic, we will avoid being a wrath. And if we show pleasure in everything we do, we will avoid displaying envy or pride.
Nothing more could be added to this. Positive thinking will help us to stay away from any sin and help us lead a fruitful life.
